A.Z.O.S (Arch Zechert Operating System)#

Welcome to the A.Z.O.S documentation!

A.Z.O.S, short for “Arch Zechert Operating System”, is a highly customized operating system based on Arch Linux. As the creator and primary user, I’ve tailored it to meet my specific needs, incorporating personalized configurations, dot files, scripts, and custom tools. This guide explains on how to install and configure the A.Z.O.S on a computer.

Keep in mind that A.Z.O.S is opinionated and designed with my workflow in mind. While it’s available for anyone to explore, its unique customizations may not align with the broader audience’s requirements. Feel free to dive in, explore the code, and adapt it to your liking.

If you decide to follow this guide, you will end up with an Arch Linux system, that will:

  • use one EFI partition to support UEFI, UEFI is mandatory
  • boot a unified kernel stub from the EFI partition, without an extra bootloader
  • use Secure Boot to secure the system (optional, but recommended)
  • use a completely encrypted disk to store data
  • use LVM2 to manage virtual volumes on your hard disk
  • support hibernation
  • Wayland with Hyprland
  • and much more...

The installed system will not

  • be suitable for dual booting with other operating systems
  • come with any guarantees or warranty

Warning

This guide contains a lot of different commands to be executed with and without superuser permissions. Never copy and execute commands on your local machine if you do not understand them. Always cross check with the man pages of the commands or with the Arch Linux Wiki.

Commands can cause irreversible damages to your system. You will lose your data!
